Student Life at St. Mary's

Where Learning Meets Joy, Discipline & Community

Our House System

Building Team Spirit Since Day One

To promote a competitive team spirit in sports, games and allied activities, the entire school is divided into four houses:

Red House

Green House

Yellow House

Blue House

Every student is placed into one of these houses upon admission. Each house is headed by a student House Captain and guided by a House Warden (a staff member), assisted by several tutor-teachers. Inter-House competitions are organised throughout the year in Sports, Dramatics, Debates, Quiz, Art and Music, with trophies awarded to winning houses and certificates given to every outstanding student.

Games & Sports

Compulsory Participation for All

Across the world, the importance of physical education continues to grow, as play is recognised as both a learning activity and the very first form of education essential to personality development. St. Mary's School has qualified and experienced Physical Training teachers, and every student must compulsorily participate in games and sports. Yogic exercises, imparted by special instructors, form an integral part of our physical education programme.

Educational Tours & Picnics

During long-term breaks, the school arranges educational tours to places of historical and educational importance, guided by affectionate and experienced teachers. Additionally, picnics and excursions are organised separately for students of the primary and secondary sections, offering enriching experiences beyond the classroom.

Co-Curricular Activities

Children come to school for total personality development — not merely to gather information or become literate. St. Mary's School ensures a wide range of co-curricular activities and competitions organised at the Inter-House level, meeting the developmental needs of every aspect of a child's personality.

Assembly, Prayers & Anthems

Nurturing Spirituality & Patriotism Every Morning

Each school day begins with a structured assembly that includes prayers, the National Anthem, and the National Pledge — instilling both spiritual grounding and civic responsibility in students.

Included in Daily Assembly

  • Assembly Prayer
  • The Lord's Prayer ("Our Father")
  • Prayer Before Class / Study
  • Prayer After Class
  • National Anthem — Jana Gana Mana
  • National Pledge
  • St. Mary's School Song
  • Sant Mary's Gaan (Hindi)

Full lyrics available in the School Diary / on request.

Our School Song

"In this school we're always children, In this school, we learn to pray, For God is our true Father, And guide us on our way..."

(Chorus)

"Oh it's fine, it's grand, it's marvellous, St. Mary's Gold and Blue. We learn to serve our fellowmen, for God and country too."

Full lyrics are drawn from the school's own diary for reference. Licensing/permissions should be confirmed before publishing any further verses publicly online.

Sportsmanship Pledge

Before annual sports events, students take a pledge (Sports Men's Oath) committing to participate with a spirit of friendship and brotherhood, promote patriotism and duty through sport, and uphold the dignity of the school while striving to become ideal citizens through healthy sporting traditions.
